SHRIMP Workshop 2008
INFORMATION LETTER – December 20, 2007
Dear friends and colleagues,
During the 3rd SHRIMP Workshop in Perth (as well as during 2nd
SHRIMP Workshop in Hiroshima, though), our Centre of Isotopic Research
(CIR) was nominated and awarded to play host to the Workshop in
2008. We were very proud about that and did all the best for preliminary
preparation of this event. Perhaps we were not so fast as the famous
koala bears or Grus japonensis, but we did. Finally, we
are glad to inform you that the 4th SHRIMP Workshop
will be held in Saint Petersburg, Russia from June 29 till July
4, 2008, within picturesque “white
nights” (1 hour of darkness only) period.
Arrival day – June 29, Sunday. The Workshop program
is subdivided into two halves. First, it will be Introductory (June
30) and Plenary (July 1) sessions in St.-Petersburg, at the Russian
Geological Research Institute (VSEGEI), the base of the Centre of
Isotopic Research (and the SHRIMP, of course). Second, the Technical
(July 2) and Application (July 3) sessions will be combined with
lovely 3-nights river-lake ship cruise to the island Valaam (Ladoga
Lake) and historical village Mandrogi (Svir River). Sea-sickness
on the 4-decker ship is unlikely. No sharks or pirates, indeed.
Back in St.-Petersburg – July 4, Friday, noon time.
Such a program requires relatively high Workshop registration fees,
because it will include compulsory expenses for accommodation, meal
and excursions (full board) during the cruise (ca Euro 700.-).
