SHIMP SI Upgrade January 2017

 

Our SHRIMP SI is being upgraded. The ion pump is being replaced by a cryogenic pump. Racks, hoist, source slit motor controllers are being replaced by new DMC cards.

John Foster celebrates 50 years at ANU

On May 28th John Foster celebrated 50 years at ANU. While John graduated as a chemist, Most of his time at ANU has been spent tinkering with SHRIMPs (and running, and tinkering with Landrovers). The School had a special morning tea for John with reflections on his career by Trevor Ireland and Bill Compston.

Apart from some awesome sulphur data from SHRIMP SI, we have celebrated the end of the year with Earth Chemistry party here in the SHRIMP building.

Today the SHRIMP Group is celebrated three major milestones:

  1. Decommissioning of SHRIMP I (after 30 years of service)
  2. Commissioning of SHRIMP SI (at least we have the first data from it)
  3. Bill Compston's 80th Birthday
